This week, a new ion implanter was introduced at the Brojde Center at the Institute of Applied Physics, in the Faculty of Science. This is the only such device in Israel and one of the few in the world, and is used to insert focused atoms (ions) into solid materials. This is a critical process in the production of semiconductors, electronic components, chip manufacturing, and advanced materials research, by changing their electrical and physical properties at precise locations. This advanced device will facilitate advanced academic research in quantum materials, microelectronics, physics, chemistry, and more.
