Nature boulevards and galleries
The Nature Park & Galleries, the open-air campus museum of the Edmond J. Safra Campus, invites the university community and the general public to enjoy the striking and beautiful scientific and natural exhibits.
The museum was founded in 2003 by Professor Jeff Camhi, and it offers a multitude of experiences to bring people of all ages closer to Israel’s natural heritage, science and research. A visit to the Nature Park & Galleries combines education and enjoyment in the unique environment of the campus, and brings you closer to the natural world and allows you to see it from another angle: a meeting with the Israeli dinosaur and its friends, an introduction to a 2,000-year-old tree trunk, the Plant Evolution Garden, the Ecology Boardwalk, the Bird Migration Trail, the Discovery Tree Walk and more.
On your visit, you are invited to take a copy of the brochure, “On the Campus Trail”, from the stand next to the main entrance, by the fountain. This brochure will guide you through the open-air museum’s exhibitions to other special sites around the campus. You will also be able to expand your understanding of ecology, evolution, trees, birds and more through the signs that can be found around the garden or with the audio guide app.
You can also purchase the English-language guide to the trees on campus, “Fifty Tree Tales” from the Academon shop at the entrance to the campus.
Visitors are invited to wander around the garden without a guide free of charge throughout the week. Most of the areas, including the boardwalk, are wheelchair accessible.
The exhibitions are on display in the Nature Park & Galleries:
Plant Evolution Garden: Aided by examples of beautiful flowers and explanations on signposts, visitors will explore the most significant evolutionary developments in the 500-million-year history of plants.
The Bird Migration Trail introduces 50 bronze life-sized colorful migratory birds that visit the campus in different seasons. This fascinating exhibit enables the visitor to see and touch the birds throughout the year.
Come and visit the Ecology Boardwalk (fully wheelchair accessible) and see how nature, which can often appear chaotic, has its own order and structure.
