Harman Science Library

The science library on the Edmond J. Safra Campus in Givat Ram is named after Dr. Avraham Harman, the former president of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. The Harman Library is the main library of the Faculty of Science.

The library’s collections cover physics, chemistry, life sciences and earth sciences. The library contains over 300,000 physical items, including textbooks and research materials, reference works, journals and graduate projects and a range of online resources including data repositories, journals, eBooks and digital dissertations.

The library’s mission is to provide reference materials and access to sources, knowledge and data for all researchers, teachers and students.
The library is both an information center and a social hub within the Safra Campus. It contributes to the advancement of research and teaching and integrates technological innovations that are among the most advanced anywhere in the world.

The Berel & Agnes Ginges (Australia) Library Information Centre provides a vibrant and dynamic studying environment for people with different preferences of learning methods, including individual and group study spaces, a computer room and a cafe in the garden.

Computer stations, printers, a scanner, photocopiers and a wire, LAN wifi access are available for the convenience of readers in the library.

Mathematics and Computer Science Library
 

The Mathematics and Computer Science Library was founded in 1925 as a mathematics library. The library contains almost 40,000 volumes of hundreds of periodicals and series, 35,000 book titles, technical reports and early reprints of the Einstein Institute of Mathematics and the School of Engineering and Computer Science, doctoral dissertations and a unique collection of 16,000 mathematical reprints dating back to the 19th and 20th centuries.

The library has a global reputation that matches the lofty academic status of the Einstein Institute of Mathematics and the School of Engineering and Computer Science in Israel, the Middle East and globally.

One of the unique collections inherited by the library is that of the German mathematician Felix Klein, including 19th-century books and some of his original manuscripts.

Some rare books, including Hebrew texts from the 17th and 18th centuries and a collection of Edmond Landau's letters donated to the library, are on display in the reception hall of the library for visitors’ appreciation.
