Nurseries (Daycare)

The dean of students at the Hebrew University runs two nurseries for the benefit of student parents, at the Mount Scopus and Edmond J. Safra campuses. These nurseries accept babies from the age of 2-8 months (once the baby is registered for the nursery, they can continue to attend it until the end of the academic year). Mothers may attend the nurseries at any time to breastfeed. There is a ratio of one nanny for every five babies.

Parents may register their baby for the nursery either for fixed days (e.g. – every Monday and Wednesday throughout the fall semester) or on a one-off basis with at least one day’s notice.

The nursing room and diaper changing facility has opened on the third floor of the Education and Social Work Library – a key will be provided upon request from the lending desk. 

Play Area at the Mount Scopus Campus

A play area is available in the Bronfman (Idelson) dorms for the children of parents living in these dorms. It is run by the parents, who would be happy to accept donations of toys. For details of the parent in charge, contact the manager of the Idelson dorms, at 02-5818115.

Edmond J. Safra Campus

Nursery

Babies from the age of 11 months to 16 months. The day care center is open from Sunday to Thursday, from 8am to 4pm. For further details, contact Ruben 054-5295675. 

Kindergarten

Toddlers from the age of 17 months to 3 years. The kindergarten is open from Sunday to Thursday, from 7:15am to 4pm. For further details, contact Ruben 054-5295675. 

Rehovot Campus

The “Bereshit” kindergarten is located in the Faculty of Agriculture and managed by Boaz Feigenblatt. The kindergarten is open from Sunday to Thursday – 7am to 5pm, Friday – 7am to 12pm. The kindergarten is supervised by the Ministry of Education and with the symbol of the Ministry of Education and holds “recognized but not official” status. The nursery gives priority to students who wish to register their babies on a monthly basis. Any remaining spaces are then allocated to babies on a daily basis, subject to availability. The kindergarten accepts babies from the age of 3 months to 3 years.
