A breakthrough in secure quantum communication

A new method developed by Prof. Ronen Rappaport of the Racah Institute of Physics and doctoral students Yuval Blum and Yoad Ordan, in collaboration with the Los Alamos National Laboratory, supports effective quantum encryption even when using imperfect hardware. The new approach enables safe and efficient communication without relying on rare and expensive sources of single photons—an  important step on the road to the practical application of quantum communication technology. The study was published in PRX Quantum.
