Prof. Shy Arkin and a team of researchers from the Institute of Life Sciences have discovered a new drug combination for individuals suffering from severe flu symptoms, as well as for those with weakened immune systems. This new combination has proven effective even against the most lethal strains of the virus, including avian flu and swine flu. Beyond the breakthrough in treatment, the discovery holds a surprising twist: one of the two compounds in the drug pairing is also found in chocolate. The study was published in PNAS.
