A new approach to treating DNA disorders and aging
A new international study published in Genes & Development reveals that reducing the activity of an overactive immune sensor can restore tissue health in cases of severe genetic disorders and change the way scientists understand aging and DNA damage. The study was led by Dr. Marva Bergman and Prof. Itamar Harel of the Alexander Silberman Institute of Life Sciences, in collaboration with Prof. Yehuda Tzfati of the Institute of Life Sciences, Prof. Ido Ben-Ami of the Faculty of Medicine and Shaare Zedek Medical Center, and Prof. Bérénice Benayoun of the University of Southern California.
